Finally, we had a shark chum that resulted in seeing an actual shark and not just flinging chum at each other!!! I will admit that it was a little rough to wake up at 5:30 a.m. to get out there on the boat, but it was worth it. The shark was an ~2 ft. mako. It was an adorable, little baby shark that ripped Petri the Fish (which is the fish tied to the line that we are all intently staring at in the other picture) to pieces. Poor Petri. The funny thing is that Petri was the only fish tied to our boat. Another boat had been out with all of the chum since 4:30 a.m. and had buckets and buckets of chum, and where did the shark go? Petri. Thanks for naming Petri, Liz. So that was our shark chum. The last one of my CIMI career. Oh yeah, the other picture is a floating sea lion carcass. Yummy... it smelled wonderful.
